More than 2,000 international experts, public sector decision-makers, representatives of civil society, indigenous representatives and young people attended the 5th World Congress of UNESCO Biosphere Reserves. One of the outcomes of their meeting was that São Tomé and Príncipe became the first country in the world to have its entire territory designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
