On 11. 01.2024 Mrs. Kerstin Schulze received her certificate of appointment as Honorary Consul in São Tomé e Príncipe from Ambassador Mr. Gruner. Mrs. Schulze comes from Havelland near Berlin. Together with her husband, she has been involved in the social-diaconal and church sector in São Tomé and Príncipe since 2011.

The previous Honorary Consul, Mr. Manuel da Graça Lima de Nazaré, held the honorary post for 18 years and has now retired. At a ceremony to mark the handover of office, Ambassador Gruner emphasized that Mr. Nazaré had rendered outstanding services to the development of São Tomé and the expansion of relations with Germany.

The Honorary Consul’s duties include providing assistance to Germans and promoting cooperation between the two countries. The number of German tourists in São Tomé & Príncipe has increased noticeably in recent years. The island state is still considered an insider tip, but is becoming increasingly well-known and a popular travel destination.
