The Democratic Republic of São Tomé e Príncipe. Two islands, three languages, one unique country. With just 1001 square kilometers, you’ll find these islands in the midst of the African tropics.
Welcome to São Tomé e Príncipe
Welcome, Bem-vindo!
São Tomé e Príncipe, the second smallest country in Africa, lies directly on the equator. Approximately 30% of the islands are national parks with tropical rainforests. The country has about 210,000 inhabitants, with about 90% living in the north-eastern area around the capital Cidade de São Tomé and only a few thousand on the island of Príncipe.
São Tomé e Príncipe’s main exports are coffee and cocoa, often from certified organic cultivation and of top international quality. The most important economic sector is tourism. São Tomé e Príncipe can be reached from Europe in about 6 hours from Lisbon several times a week by direct flight.

“São Tomé e Príncipe is a very special country with impressive people. That is why I have been involved here for many years, among other things in educational projects.”
